LG 42LA691S review - today in our Test and Review blog we are going to take at one of the newest 42-inch premium LG TVs. LG 42LA691S is a high-end Full HD 3D LED TV with Smart TV features and quite impressive specifications.

TV looks and design

LG 42LA691S is one awesome looking device and will fit well to any interior design.  LG 42LA691S looks very stylish thanks to the high-quality materials that LG used to make this TV and thanks to the fact this TV is almost frameless. The metal finish on the bottom part of the panel and on the stand show this is not just another 42-inch TV but a quality piece of technology.

Majority 120W TV soundbar with Bluetooth

LG 42LA691S keeps relatively tight dimensions at 95.1 x 56.4 x 3.45 cm (without stand) and weighs around 12 kg (without stand).

Features and technology

And when talking about technology we should say this TV is totally packed with it. It is not only the quality Full HD 1080p IPS Edge LED panel with 400Hz Motion Clarity Index and local dimming but also the improved Cinema 3D and Smart TV functions that really impress in the 42LA691S.

The Triple XD Engine, Resolution Upscaler, Dynamic Color Enhancer, Smart Color Gradation and Picture Wizard II are the key technologies which LG uses to make the picture quality in this TV very close to perfect. LG 42LA691S also supports Real Cinema 24p.

LG 42LA691S has both analogue and digital Freeview HD tuners.

3D

LG uses their popular Cinema 3D technology supporting SG/FPR/AR/GPR 3D types and S/S, T/B, C/B, F/S formats. There also few very useful technologies used to find, convert and improve 3D picture. 3D Sound Zooming and Dual Play are also supported by the LG 42LA691S.

LG 42LA691S is supplied with comfortable Flicker-Free 3D glasses which improve significantly the overall 3D experience.

Smart TV

LG 42LA691S offers plenty of Smart TV functions including their popular Magic Remote control which makes controlling all the various smart functions of this TV just a bit easier and more intuitive.

With this TV you also receive apps like 3D World, Premium Content, Time Machine II, Game World and LG Cloud.

Of course the LG 42LA691S has an open browser and it easily connects to the Internet thanks to the built-in WiFi N adapter with WiFi Direct.

Connection

LG 42LA691S has almost any connection option and interface that you can think of - USB, HDMI, SCART, LAN, RF, Digital Audio, RF, CI, Component, headphone jack and few others. The 3x USB ports can be used as media players and playback movies, pictures and music of almost any format (not all though).

Sound

LG 42LA691S offers premium sound quality thanks to its two 12W stereo speakers and subwoofer and LG's Clear Voice II technology for improving audio quality. Dolby Digital decoder and Virtual Surround Plus are the other technologies that take car for the better sound experience of this 42-inch 3D LED TV.

Price

LG 42LA691S is not a cheap TV but it is definitely one that's worth the money. It costs around 800 Euro and currently it is mostly sold in Eastern Europe and Asia but LG will cover other markets pretty soon.

Verdict

LG 42LA691S is a premium TV with high price tag and if LG wants this TV to be successful it will have to face tough competitors like the Samsung UE40F7000 and the Sony Bravia KDL-42W650A.

There are also few other cheaper 42-inch Full HD LED TV that you may like - Samsung UE42F5000, LG 42LM3450, LG 42LA640S and LG 42LA660S.

My personal favorite is the 42LA660S which is an exceptionally well equipped TV and is also great value for money product.
