Choosing a new tennis racket in 2018 might be a difficult job!?
If I should give a straight answer to this question that still would be Babolat. The Pure Drive Lite is my personal choice for tennis racket in 2017 and I will count on it 2018 for various reasons. Here are couple of them:
- Top spin
- Remains stable with low vibration levels
- Lightweight (for the Pure Drive Lite model)
After couple of months using the Wilson Pro Staff Six-One 100 Lite BLX and then the HEAD Youtek IG Radical MP I realized I should look for something completely different. Babolat as a brand has always been a bit of a mystery for me, I just knew that Rafa Nadal is relying on it for many many years. After switching to the Pure Drive lite I found a well-balanced racket that suite well to a recreational player like myself. And that is what I think most people are looking for – good balance, quality made tennis racket, which remains table throughout the court no matter what.
For 2018 I am expecting something new and different by HEAD who lost the momentum recently and lost some of its market in favor of Wilson and Babolat. But that is kind of expected as two of HEAD’s superstars Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray were injured last couple of months and we could see much of this brand in action in the very best tournaments. Instead of that, world’s 3 best tennis players for 2017 relied on different brands – Nadal (Babolat), Federer (Wilson), Dimitrov (Wilson).
I hope we will see some new offers from all brands and hopefully some innovative features and materials will be implemented.
