Honda Insight

Honda Insight hybrid

Honda Insight is one of those cars that should be considered a breaktrough in car manufacturing. It is the most advanced and popular hybrid model by Honda and has been on the car market for more than two years now (the new 2008 model).

It should have been a strong competitor to Toyota's Prius and the newcommer Chevy Volt (Opel Ampera) but is it really competing or just reasearching a market that's still to develop and expand.
Honda Insight uses a 1.0 regular gasoline engine with 67 hp and an 13 hp electric motor that acts as a generator when decelerating.
Honda Insight has an average consumption of 3.9 liters per 100 km which is around 73 mpg. These results are good but most modern diesel cars are already there.
The Insight has nice modern looking exterior, with a shape very similar to Toyota Prius but a bit more conservative with more curves and angles. The interior is nicely fitted, roomy and functional. The Insight is a 5 passenger car and trunk space is more than enough.

Honda Insight is a real bestseller in Japan and is one of the best-selling cars on Japanese car market - over 100 000 units sold.
No matter if we like it or not hybrid vehicles are already part of our transportation choices and it's just a matter of time and development for hybrids to become more efficient and affordable. Currently Honda Insight is one of the best and most preffered hybrid cars together with the Prius and the Volt.
