AIWA RS-55 review: A retro pocket radio with a modern punch

AIWA RS-55 Review: Retro Style Meets Modern Sensitivity In an era dominated by digital streaming and smart speakers, there is a unique satisfaction in the tactile click of an analog dial. For my latest test, I went back to basics with the AIWA RS-55 AM/FM receiver . AIWA is a legendary Japanese brand, and with the RS-55, they’ve managed to capture a vintage aesthetic without sacrificing the build quality we expect today.

2013 Cadillac ATS car test drive and review

Info, pics and quick test drive and review of the all new 2013 Cadillac ATS luxury sedan

2013 Cadillac ATS
2013 Cadillac ATS

The 2013 Cadillac ATS is a compact luxury car wit typical Cadillac design and plenty of tech innovations.   This rear will drive sedan is a direct competitor to the king in this class the BMW 3-series, which has its latest F30 generation already for sale and it is a real best seller so far, just an amazing car.

So what different has the Cadillac ATS has to offer to the mid-sized luxury sedan customers that will make them pick the American classy over the German engineering. First of all it is the design that is a bit more appealing to the US customers than the one of the 3-series. The striking looks of the ATS may grab not just one or two customers but most fans of this futuristic V-shaped design which Cadillac is using in its latest models.

Here we took some pictures of the ATS at the 2012 Paris Motor Show:

The 2013 Cadillac ATS is powered by one of the three gasoline engines that are offered for this model. The base ATS gets the 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine with 202 horsepower. The range is completed by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivering 272 horsepower and 3.6-liter V6 engine with some 321 horsepower under the hood.

A diesel option is expected by the end of next year but that still not confirmed. This option will be great in case Cadillac decides to offer the ATS at the European market. That is very questionable due to the unsuccessful try in this segment with the BLS some time ago.

All versions of the ATS will have a 6-speed automatic Hydra-Matic gearbox and a 6-speed manual will be offered as an option to the 2.0-liter turbo engine. Cadillac ATS will be also offered with an all-wheel drive.

The weight distribution of the car is very close to the perfect 50/50 which together with the rear-wheel drive makes it great to drive, something we can't say for most nose-heavy Cadillac cars. The ATS handling is also going to be improved by its Magnetic Ride Control active suspension which will be used in the higher-range models.

The interior of the ATS is functional and yet very modern looking and actually it feels quite roomy inside. The trunk is also big enough for a car in this segment.

Prices for the 2013 Cadillac ATS will start form around $34,000 and can easily reach $43,000 for the top models. Here is a quick test drive and video review of the 2013 Cadillac ATS.

We went all the way to Paris to take a closer look at the Cadillac ATS at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and I have to say I was really impressed with this new luxury sedan. It looks great and it has some great performance figures. The only thing that can set you back from buying the ATS is the price which is still for a premium car no matter the compact size of this vehicle.
