LG 42LN5700 TV - our consumer opinion

LG 42LN5700 review - in case you are in the search of affordable 42-inch Full HD Smart LED TV than you may consider the LG 42LN5700 as one of the best choices matching those requirements.  It delivers very good picture quality and Smart TV functions and is offered at a very reasonable price.

Looks
LG 42LN5700 is a simple looking TV with typical LG design. Its frame is decided entirely in black and is made of plastics. The frame thickness of the panel is relatively small and the panel itself is quite slim. As an entry level 42-inch TV the LG 42LN5700 won't impress anyone with design but its sample looks will suit most customers.

Technology
LG 42LN5700 offers good quality Full HD 1080p picture with maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Fast moving objects in action movies and sports are not a problem for the 42LN5700 thanks to the TrueMotion 120Hz and the Triple XD engine. Another innovation for this TV is the dual-core processing which makes most functions significantly faster. As you probably know Samsung and Sony are now also using dual-core technology even in some of their budget models so it is a good thing that LG is keeping up with the competition.

LG 42LN5700 is also one of the most energy-efficient TVs in its class with power consumption of only 41.4 W and 0.3 W in stand-by mode. These exceptional specs brought the ENERGY STAR® Most efficient 2013 television award for the LG 42LN5700.

Smart TV
LG 42LN5700 is a fully functioning Smart TV with built-in WiFi connection with Wi-Fi Direct and WiDi for easier connecting process. There are plenty of interesting and useful apps that are available from the Home Dashboard 3.0 menu and the App Store - web browser, LG cloud, Smart Share Plus, Skype and many others.

This TV is also DLNA and Windows 8 certified.

Sound
The sound in the LG 42LN5700 is provided by 2x 10W stereo speakers with DTS decoder, Clear Voice II technology and Sound Optimizer with 3 modes - Normal, Wall Mount, Stand. You have also another six modes to choose from the Sound Mode menu - Standard, Music, Cinema, Sport, Game, User.

The overall impression from these speakers and the sound performance is pretty good.

Connections
Like most other LG LED TVs this one is also very well equipped with connection options - 3x HDMI, 3x USB (2.0 and 3.0),  AV in, RF in, Component video in, RS-232, digital audio out and LAN are available in the LG 42LN5700.

Price
As I already mentioned in the beginning the 42LN5700 is an entry level 42-inch LED TV for LG so its price of around $850 makes it one of the most affordable 42-inch Full HD Smart LED TV-s on the market today.
If you need slightly bigger screen, there is a 47-inch version of this TV- LG 47LN5700.

But before you rush and go buy this great 42-inch TV I would also recommend you to take a look at the best 42-inch Full HD LED TVs.
