We are building a very capable but yet quite affordable PC configuration this week and decided to share with you some impressions and detailed info about the components we are using. 

Today we will review the 80 Plus Gold certified fully-modular power supply Seasonic Focus GX-550.

First of all why we chose this PSU? Well to be honest we read lots of power supply reviews online and also consulted couple specialist about what to buy. At the end we liked the Focus GX-550 and another one from Bitefinix which was a bit cheaper and not modular. We decided to spend some more and get the Seasonic so it is going in our mid-range Ryzen 3rd generation gaming build.

One of the main drivers for us to get this Focus GX-550 power supply was related to reliability - offered with 10-year warranty gave us some additional reassurance that this is a good long-term purchase.

Seasonic Focus GX-550 - product features and specs

Another important aspect was noise. We wanted something with quite operation. Thanks to its hybrid fan control this Seasonic power supply may remain completely silent most of the time on idle and medium loads. We already tested it for couple of seconds and even when the fan is working, the noise levels remain quite low.

Seasonic Focus GX-550 - product price

We haven't tested many power supplies these days but from our research we believe that the this might be one of the best 550 Watt modular Gold PSUs that you can buy under $100. Of course prices may vary on your location so expect price tags of around $80 all the way to $120. We bought ours on sale for around $85.
