Samsung UE40MU6100 TV review

This Samsung UE40MU6100 is a 40-inch Smart TV for under $500. Does it provide value for money?

Samsung UE40MU6100 TV review

The UE40MU6100 is a 40-inch TV Samsung they launched in 2017. The model is mid to low-range price-wise and can be currently found for under USD500. Testproductreview decided to see if this TV is good choice for its price range.

Design

The TV has the typical Samsung look featuring the typical Y-shaped stand. It is similar to the higher-end models, but a closer look will give out the fact that this is a budget TV. The frame around the screen is a bit thicker than the more expensive models and it's plastic, not metallic.

However, the TV still keeps it signature stylish looks. The Y-stand featured here too is one of my favorite TV stand designs, but it has a small drawback - it's a bit longer than most so you will need a bigger table to put the TV on. The UE40MU6100 is a bit thicker than the higher end Samsung models. At a little bit above 6 cm, the TV is reasonably slim, but not exceptional.

Relatively small according to today's megalomanic standards, this 40-inch Samsung is suitable for your living room or bedroom.

Picture and Sound Quality

The Samsung UE40MU6100 is 4K, but at this size, 40-inch, you will not be able to see the difference between Full HD and 4K resolution. Although a good feature, you'll definitely need a bigger screen size to make use of the 4K.

You will be able to enjoy this TV's vibrant colors and deep blacks - something Samsung are famous for. The viewing angle however is not that great, so I suggest to place the TV in the center of the room. The motion is good though, thanks to Auto Motion Plus enhancer - another popular Samsung feature.

The sound of this TV is not its brightest feature though. Although passable, it's not as good compared to higher end models. I would definitely suggest you get a sound system along with the TV although that can cost you more for the whole set.

The Smart TV is Samsung's famous Tizen smart hub, which is easy and comfortable to use and is also featured on higher-end TVs.
