YouTube, Gmail and other Google services are down

Google applications are down with Temporary Error (500), including Gmail and YouTube

Google outage
Google massive outage - YouTube, Gmail and many other services were down for about 30 minutes

It seems that in many locations around the globe consumers are receiving errors in most Google products like YouTube, Gmail, Blogger and others.

It looks like Google servers are temporary down for unknown reasons. The issue first occurred around 1:50 PM on 14/12/2020.

It is quite strange to see such a severe impact on Google's servers limited not only to a single product but in many.

What is even more awkward is that Google's Workplace Status Dashboard does not show any errors or servers that are currently down. It is strange to see that no service disruptions are currently present, to say the least.

We tested YouTube, Gmail and other services in both mobile and desktop platforms and we see the same result - Temporary Error (500).

On the other hand Google Analytics and Search Console seem to be working just fine.

Latest update: Most services are now recovered after about 30-50 minute outage (depending on your location.

Few hours ago Google Cloud reported in Twitter that "Google experienced an authentication system outage for approximately 45 minutes due to an internal storage quota issue".

"Today, at 3.47AM PT Google experienced an authentication system outage for approximately 45 minutes due to an internal storage quota issue. This was resolved at 4:32AM PT, and all services are now restored.

We will keep you updated on this topic, so stay tuned for more info. Hopefully everything will be back to normal shortly. We wish good luck and success to Google engineers!
