Samsung Warning: Unplug charger immediately

In case you've got the Warning: Unplug charger immediately message on your Samsung smartphone but there is neither moisture or anything else in your phone port, well you are not the only one.

It seems that many consumes received this warning message on their phones without a reason. We are not sure what may have caused the issue on our case, noticed on the Galaxy Note 9 but there are some suggestion for quick fixes that we found online.

How to solve the Warning: Unplug charger immediately issue

First of all we would recommend what Samsung notifies on the screen during the warning message - check the port for liquids or anything that may look wrong with it. If there is some moisture, then let it dry for couple of hours and try again.

Samsung also suggests the workaround of charging the affected phone wirelessly.

Unplug charger immediately - tips how to resolve

One of the popular solutions that we found online by other consumers is to turn off the phone while being unplugged then plug it in the charger and then turn the phone on again. That seemed to work for some but did not resolve it for many others.

Unplug charger immediately

What happened with our Note 9 - after we run out of battery we plugged the phone in the charger and it seems to start charging up as usual. We will give it some time and see if it pops up again.

Update: More than a month after the 'Unplug charger immediately' message appeared on our screen it never showed up again so the steps recommended above seem to work.

How to unplug Samsung charger - basic instructions

  1. To unplug a Samsung charger from a device, you should first ensure that both the device and the charger are powered off. Then, gently grasp the connector head of the charger and pull it straight out of the device's charging port.
  2. It's important to be gentle when unplugging the charger to avoid damaging the charging port on your device or the connector on your charger.
  3. Also, make sure that the charger is fully unplugged and not just loose, otherwise it may not charge your device properly.
  4. It's also important to note that you should not pull the cord itself, instead pull only the connector head.
  5. To disconnect the charger from the wall outlet, simply pull the plug out of the wall socket.

Keep in mind that it's best to unplug your device and charger when not in use to save energy and prolong the life of the battery.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S20Plus that started the waring when I charged in the morning. Definitely no moisture. I changed chargers. Same warning which meant it was a phone issue. Cleaned the port in the phone with no result. Did it several times. Turned phone off, plugged live charger in before starting it. Got the warning. Unplugged charger, turned phone on and while it was booting plugged in charger. All good! Just hope it is not a reoccurring issue.

After few hours of trying to fix my wife’s phone finally started charging properly again. This is why I stopped buying Samsung phones. Too many problems keeping popping up with every model. Learned my lesson last year and bought other brands and don’t regret.

    1. I wouldn't agree about the problems with Samsung smartphones. We have tested many brands and they proved to be among the best in regards to build quality and durability. Yes, sometimes problems like this occur but that is quite normal since these are pretty complicated products.

    2. I would agree with the OP. Having a phone blaring a warning out in the middle of the night that you can't turn off is not complicated. It's just really poor design.
