If you follow our channel, you know we’ve been loving analog radios lately. Today, we're checking out a super budget-friendly option: the Philips R1506 (1000 Series) Portable Radio.

Here are our first impressions, pros, and cons straight out of the box!

First Impressions & Features

Right away, this radio is incredibly lightweight and compact. It has a great feel in the hand and a classic, simple-to-operate design.

• Frequencies: FM and MW

• Audio: Built-in speaker and a very handy 3.5mm headphone jack if you want to plug in higher-quality headphones.

• Controls: Standard tuning dial, volume wheel, and an easy-to-use antenna.

The Catch? No Batteries Included

One minor letdown during our unboxing is that Philips didn't include batteries in the box. You will need two AAA batteries to get it running, so make sure you have some on hand before you buy!

Sound and Performance

Once we popped some spare batteries in, the radio impressed us with its signal reception. It catches stations easily and the speaker can actually get surprisingly loud! Since it is a $15 pocket-sized radio, don't expect any booming bass, but the sound quality is perfectly acceptable for day-to-day casual listening.
