When DJI is going to release the Osmo Action second gen?

One of the most successful action cameras in the world still does not have its first successor - are we going to see DJI Osmo Action 2 any time soon?
Osmo Action 2

Many travelers, vloggers, Instagram influencers just love their action cameras and produce great content with them. The market for action cameras is huge these days and DJI Osmo Action is one of the most successful models in the last couple of years.

But many consumers are asking if we are going to see a new Osmo Action 2 in the future and what are we to expect from it? Well, DJI still haven't released any information about second gen Osmo but we hope they will do so in 2021.

Until then we are going to share our expectations from the Osmo Action 2 and what we would expect from a possible new model.

DJI Osmo Action 2 - our recommendations

Here is a short list with the things we would like to see in the second generation Osmo Action:

  • Bigger sensor - while we are perfectly aware that small sensors are recommended for action cameras for various reasons, we believe that a bigger sensor will expand the capabilities for the new model.
  • Improved stabilization - RockSteady digital stabilization is pretty good but we would expect some improvements in that regards just to catch up with the best in the segment in 2021.
  • Brighter displays - one of the big advantages of the Osmo Action are the dual-screens. We hope that this feature will remain in the Osmo Action 2 but we would like them to be just a bit brighter and possibly with higher resolution.

These are just some of the ideas for what we hope to see in the new action camera from DJI. What they will offer is completely different story. Lets hope they read consumer feedbacks and will take such suggestions into consideration.

DJI Osmo Action - still an amazing action camera 2020

Improved low light performance and microphone would be great for the successor if they do make it (a bigger sensor can help with low light). Would also rather see better color science over a higher resolution recording. 4K60 is the perfect format for 99.99% of the world. GoPro put 5k into their 9 and it became as reliable as a car without wheels. Anything else (battery life, screens, waterproofing, wireless connectivity) is just gravy.
