Opel concept car 2023

Rüsselsheim, August 14, 2023 - Opel, the renowned German automobile manufacturer, is poised to revolutionize the future of mobility with the introduction of its groundbreaking Opel Experimental concept car. This futuristic vehicle is more than just a concept; it's a bold proclamation of Opel's forthcoming direction in terms of design, technology, and sustainability.

With a revolutionary exterior, cutting-edge aerodynamics, and an interior that redefines spaciousness, the Opel Experimental is set to make its grand debut at the IAA Mobility in Munich, taking place from September 5 to 10, 2023.

Opel CEO Florian Huettl commented on the significance of the Opel Experimental, stating, “This stunning concept car represents a guiding light and showcases once again Opel’s pioneering spirit. It gives an outlook on upcoming models and technologies, on the future design, even on a new era and the future of the brand."

The Opel Experimental's design is a testament to Opel's commitment to innovation and forward thinking. Mark Adams, Vice President Design at Opel, highlighted the concept's role in shaping the brand's future production vehicles: "Many of the elements of its design and the mindset behind it will be visible in future production vehicles. The exterior design delivers an optimized aerodynamic performance in combination with a stunning silhouette, while the interior offers an immersive and emotional user experience."

One of the most striking aspects of the Opel Experimental is its departure from traditional design cues. Instead of chrome accents, the exterior features dynamic lighting elements and bold graphics, adding an element of personality to the vehicle's already impressive profile. The concept car is built on a cutting-edge Stellantis battery-electric vehicle platform and boasts electric all-wheel drive capabilities. The sleek tapering profile, characterized by clean lines and muscular wheel-arch blisters, exudes confidence and style.

At the forefront of the Opel Experimental's design is the illuminated Opel Blitz emblem, centrally positioned within the Opel Compass – a defining element of Opel's design philosophy. The emblem is accompanied by elongated wing signature lighting, creating an impactful visual statement. The rear end mirrors this design language with a compass-inspired braking light, augmented by edge lighting technology and glass transparency.

In addition to its captivating aesthetics, the Opel Experimental showcases advanced aerodynamic solutions, including aero-flaps, a rear end diffuser, and even innovative tire technology developed in collaboration with Goodyear. Inside, the concept car defies expectations with its clever utilization of space, aided by a steer-by-wire system that eliminates mechanical steering components, enabling a seamlessly retractable steering wheel. The lightweight adaptive seats are not only comfortable but also contribute to a more spacious cabin environment.

The Opel Experimental's interior is a technological marvel, featuring the Pure Experience interface. The slim Tech Bridge presents information through augmented projection technology, supported by AI and natural voice control. The transparent Pure Pad, located ahead of the front armrest, offers customizable controls for easy access to frequently used functions.

Moreover, the Opel Experimental embraces sustainability on a new level by utilizing electrochromic fabrics that create an ambient atmosphere within the vehicle. These reactive fabrics not only enhance well-being but also provide functional benefits, such as displaying warnings when a vehicle enters the blind spot.

The Opel Experimental embodies Opel's core brand values: Detox, Modern German, and Greenovation

This concept car is not just a glimpse into Opel's future; it's a tangible representation of the brand's dedication to pioneering innovation, design, and sustainable mobility.

As it premieres at the IAA Mobility in Munich, the Opel Experimental is sure to captivate the hearts and minds of automotive enthusiasts, setting a new standard for what's to come in the realm of cutting-edge vehicles. This remarkable concept car is the latest chapter in Opel's storied history of pushing boundaries and reimagining the driving experience.
