Consumer feedback about HP EliteBook 745 G5 keyboard

EliteBook 745 G5 keyboard

It has been almost 2 years since we started working with the HP EliteBook 745 G5 laptop and we have tested in various scenarios and situations. If you are interested in the full story, feel free to check the complete HP EliteBook 745 G5 product review.

Today we will discuss just the keyboard, how it feels using it, durability, comfort and so on.

HP EliteBook 745 G5 keyboard - build quality

For the period we mentioned above we still haven't experienced any issues with the keyboard. And even though this is not among our favorite keyboards we have tested it definitely has the quality feel for a laptop in this class. There aren't any squeezy sounds while typing and awkward noise of any kind.

The key travel remained almost the same since we bought the EliteBook 745 G5 so compliments to HP for their work on this keyboard.

EliteBook 745 G5 keyboard - comfort

One of the things that we didn't like since we bought this laptop are the completely flat keys and the short key travel. If we could choose we would put some curve to the keys (like a bed for the finger) so they would be more stable while typing and fingers wouldn't move around.

The other complaint is from the short key travel. We know some users like this feature (like MacBook fans) but we considered this to be a downside. A longer key travel gives a more desktop like feeling which we associate with comfort and stability.

Form our experience with the HP EliteBook 745 G5 and many other laptops we assume this keyboard is going to last for quite some time. If we had to give it a score after these 2 years it would probably be 7 out of 10 because of the small issues we mentioned.

For the past 10 years our favorite laptop keyboard of all time remains the one in the Dell Latitude E7240, closely followed by the  Dell Precision 3520 keyboard.

Please share with us which is your favorite keyboard in 2020 and why would you recommend it!
