LG 42LA640S TV
LG 42LA640S review - I think the most accurate description for this TV would be something like 'great value for money' and there are plenty of reasons to say that. LG 42LA640S offers most of the latest technology at a very reasonable price and that is why we think it is currently one of the top three 42-inch LED TVs.

In this review we are going to take a look at the key features of the 42LA640S 3D TV so you can get better idea of what is this device all about.

Looks and feel
LG decided to have this TV entirely in black color so it looks very elegant and unlike some shiny Samsung TV sets it will stay discrete even in smaller rooms. The build quality is very good and the LG 42LA640S leaves the impression of a high-end product which it really is.
LG 42LA640S has very thin frame so it keeps a relatively compact dimensions of 973x652x294 mm (with stand) and weight of 14.2 kg (not very light, isn't it).

Main features and specs
LG 42LA640S has plenty to offer in this category as it is almost fully packed with the latest technology. Its Edge LED panel has Full HD 1080p resolution of 1920 x 1080 and Motion Clarity Index (MCI) of 200Hz and 24p Real Cinema.

One of the main features in the 42LA640S is the CINEMA 3D Technology which is not only one of the best in class 3D technologies but also offers functions like 3D Depth Adjustment, 3D converter, 3D Sound Zooming, 3D image correction and Dual Play ready. LG 42LA640S usually comes with 4 pairs of quality 3D glasses which offer amazing flicker-free 3D experience. For this TV LG uses passive 3D technology.

LG 42LA640S is also a Smart TV with wide variety of useful functions.  To make this TV really functional LG integrated their  Smart Home interface and apps like 3D World,  Game World, Premium Content, LG Cloud and many others. And to make all these features easy to handle LG decided to make this TV Magic remote compatible but unfortunately the remote isn't included in the standard package so you will have to pay extra for that.

Connectivity
LG 42LA640S will not disappoint you in this category.  Like many other premium TVs in this class it is fully packed with connection options which I am just going to mention - built-in WiFi with WiFi Direct function, Component, composite, 3x HDMI, SCART, 3x USB 2.0, RF, Component, headphone jack, Digital Audio and few others. Probably the only drawback that I can point out here is the lack of  RGB In (D-sub 15 pin) which is offered in many of the other competitors in this class.

TV functions
LG 42LA640S has standard analogue TV tuner and DVB-T/DVB-C/DVB-S2 digital tuner and Common Interface Plus (CI+).

Sound
The sound in the LG 42LA640S is provided by two 10W quality stereo speakers with Dolby Digital decoder, Virtual Surround Plus and LG's Clear Voice II and technologies. The speakers sound loud and clear but lack of any subwoofer can me marked as a minus but I guess whoever buys this TV will also spend some extra cash on quality external sound system.

Price
LG 42LA640S is not a cheap TV but it definitely isn't too expensive. At the price of around 670 Euro (around £640 in UK) it is great value for money and one of the best purchases that you can make in the 42-inch 3D Smart LED TV class.

As a conclusion I can say that the LG 42LA640S is a very good 42-inch 3D Smart TV offered at a very good price. But before buying this one you can check what the competition has to offer - Samsung UE40F7000 and Sony Bravia KDL-42W650A are two of the very strong competitors in this segment.

You can check the full list of supported TVs for the AN-MR400 Magic Remote here . I know the LG 42LA640S supports Magic Motion Control but I would recommend you to contact LG support for the exact model of remote control that you can use with this TV set.

Sony Bravia KDL-42W650 is still not very popular around the world and the reason for that is not the lack of quality or functions which this TV is fully packed with but because of the fact that the  KDL-42W650/ KDL-42W650A is mostly going to be sold in Eastern Europe and some parts of Asia.
