Top 5 things to like about Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016)

Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) - affordable but quite capable

[caption id="attachment_1146" align="alignnone" width="383"]Samsung J7 (2016) Samsung J7 (2016)[/caption]

Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) is already replaced by its new 2017 version but it is still one of the most reliable smartphones on the market today.

Here is my list with the top 5 things that I consider good in the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016):

  • Price -  J7 (2016) can be found for less than 200 Euros without a contract to a mobile carrier which is a great price for a 5.5-inch smartphone with octa-core processor

  • Functionality -it neither the quickest nor the best speced smartphone on the market but it does everything well, J7 is really very balanced device. Processor, camera, design are all good.

  • Very nice and vivid Super Amoled HD display

  • 13MP rear camera - with autofocus (but no optical stabilization)

  • Battery life - the 3300 mAh is more than enough for a couple of days moderate use

Nokia 5 – great value for money smartphone

I will share a full consumer review of the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) very soon. Until then, I will be happy to hear your impressions from this very capable smartphone. Thanks.

Top 3 tips when buying Sencor TV

When looking for your next TV - be smart, buy cheap Sencor television

Sencor TV tips
Sencor TV - cheap and reliable

Sencor brand is getting quite popular these days and there are many consumers who prefer to spend less for their next TV when choosing less popular brand like Sencor.

Last week we took a quick tour around the budget 32 inch Sencor SLE 3217TC which impressed with good build quality and very attractive price. I've spend few more days researching on the best Sencor TV too choose from, so here are my top 3 tips for you if purchasing new Sencor LED television:

Choose the right size

Sencor offer variety of TV sets starting from very small panels that will suit your kitchen very well and reaching TVs over 50 inches, those that are perfect for the home. So, in case you need a small set for the kitchen or the bedroom than the SLE 2462 would be the best choice for you. Offered at around $120-150 this 24 inch Sencor TV is one of our top picks for small cheap LED TV.

For more detailed specs I would recommend you to check the official Sencor's website, where more TV sizes are available.

Don't spend too much

Sencor produce cheap products so if any of the tech stores is asking a ridiculously high price for a Sencor TV, than probably you shouldn't buy it and look elsewhere. If you want to check similarly priced alternatives then check what Luxor TVs have to offer.

Test before you buy

If Sencor is a brand that does not sound familiar to you (like Sony or Samsung lets say) then check which tech store offers Sencor TVs and test their products directly on site. Buying online may save you a lot of money... or give you a headache.

These were my 3 quick tips for you in case you are interested in buying Sencor TV. Stay tuned for more info about this not very well known but interesting brand.

Lenovo Thinkpad Ultrabook T460 user review and experience

Lenovo Thinkpad Ultrabook T460 is good but far from what Dell ultrabooks deliver these days

Lenovo Thinkpad Ultrabook T460 review
Lenovo Thinkpad Ultrabook T460

After using the business laptop Lenovo Thinkpad Ultrabook T460 for almost a year, I would like to share my experience with you - the good, bad and the ugly.

I’ve received this ultrabook as a business laptop last year and since then, I have used it heavily almost every day. Below you can see the exact specifications of the laptop I am using:

Lenovo Ultrabook T460 specifications

339 mm x 232.5 mm x 21 mm

~ 1.7 kg

Intel Core i5 - 6300 U CPU @ 2.40 GHz

8 GB

512 GB Samsung SSD

Intel Integrated

14 inch HD anti-glare (1366 x 768)

Up to 14 Hours (23 WHr + 72 WHr)

720 p HD camera

Looks and Appearance

The ultrabook features the signature old IBM sturdy look, which may be a bit spartan for most users, me included. The sharp edges and simple design may not be very impressive, but the build quality is good, the laptop does not bend or feel unstable. It is a bit on the heavy side though, and not very slim, which is not unusual for Lenovo laptops.

The key travel is not very slim for a laptop, but it feels very convenient on my fingers. The keyboard is well spaced for comfortable writing. As I use it for business purposes, I often type a lot on a daily basis and have not yet had any inconveniences with the keyboard. The touchpad is the weak point here as usual with Lenovo - it’s not as responsive as other laptops and the touchpad buttons are difficult to press so you may as well just give up on it and use a mouse all the time as I do.

Overall the performance of this laptop is not bad, but honestly, for its price (currently sold at around US$1,100 - 1,200) I would have expected more. I have to run multiple applications (between 9 and 12) on this machine every day and for the most part, the Ultrabook fares well and replies quickly. However, I’ve had slowness in response times on several occasions, as well as everyone’s favorite blue screen of death, hurray Windows users. I alsways have issues with maintaining multiple browser tabs open for a longer period of time, which is a bit unnerving.

Battery life

If there’s a single thing I can praise this laptop on, it’s the battery life. As I described above, my daily use of this laptop includes numerous heavy applications and with all of them running and maximum brightness the Lenovo ultrabook can stay on battery for around 3 hrs 30 mins, or even 4 hrs on occasions. If left on idle with minimum brightness, this laptop can stay alive on battery for over 14 hrs.

If you are looking for a cheap Lenovo laptop you should definitely check the Lenovo G500.

Display, video and audio

Lenovo have opted for an anti-glare display, which I particularly like. The viewing angle is also very good and the ultrabook performs well under bright daylight as well as in dim environments.

In video and audio aspect, there is nothing impressive to say, the ultrabook performs averagely and the audio especially is quite mediocre.

Final verdict

This is a decent laptop for business purposes with long battery life, middle to very good performance depending on load and sturdy build. Maybe I would have recommended it if it wasn’t for the price - this Lenovo ultrabook should definitely not cost the US$1,200 it’s currently sold for.

Washing machine for the average consumer - Gorenje SensoCare W6523/SC

Consumer review of washing machine Gorenje SensoCare W6523/SC

Gorenje W6523/SC washing machine
Gorenje W6523/SC

In today’s review we will take a look at one of Gorenje’s washing machines - the 1200 rpm 6 kg model SensoCare W6523/SC.

We’ve had this washing machine for 3 months and have used it heavily so we’d like to share our experience and overall impressions with this Gorenje’s model. It has to be mentioned that this washing machine was on sale when we bought it so we got it for less than USD 300, and it’s still sold for that price range. This makes this washing machine middle range priced for the Gorenje product line - it’s not the cheapest one and by far not the most expensive one.

The washing machine is offered only in white, which in my opinion is the only acceptable color for a washing machine or a dryer, the inox ones just look wrong. The model is decided in slim option, which was very important for us when we were choosing our washing machine as it had to fit in a tight space. The exact dimensions are 60 cm wide, 44 cm deep and 85 cm tall. It features a LED display which shows the variety of water temperature, spin speed and remaining time for your washing cycle.

The washer

The central spinner button lets you select between 23 programs, which can be further adjusted in terms of spin speed and temperature, although not all programs can be amended to any speed or temperature you’d like, most of them will only give you the default pre-programmed option and one additional in case you need to lower the temperature a bit or increase / decrease the rpms.

My two favorite programs are the perfect black and ultra white ones. I’ve noticed that using these two, my blacks have not lost color and the whites do not darken or become yellowish even though I do not use bleach and never will. The sport program is also convenient for a short wash, and if you want an even faster program, you can use  the quick wash option, which is only 17 minutes.

There’s an option for hand wash if you have delicates that should not be spinned, but I have never used it. Of course, the Gorenje also offers cotton and wool programs, which are must-haves nowadays. There are also options for synthetics, bio wash (also never used), night wash, which is a longer program, and, of course, cold rinse and spin only. I’ve found it very useful to only spin clothes that are not quite dry enough when I take them out of the washing machine and I need to dry them quickly. It’s especially useful for bed sheets and other bigger items which may not properly spin on the first try.

Final thoughts

My overall impressions with this Gorenje model are very good, the design is simple and elegant, the wash quality is perfect, the options are more than enough, I can even add my own to Favorite wash 1 and 2. The energy class is A+++, which is also an added bonus to the whole package. I would not say that there are any drawbacks whatsoever to this washing machine and I will readily recommend it to anyone looking for a middle-range washing machine.
