Philips Multigroom series 5000 MG5720 - hair clipper and trimmer

It has been almost two weeks since I got the Philips Multigroom series 5000 trimmer and hair clipper and it is time for its first consumer review.

And for those who follow this blog would know that we have tested numerous Philips trimmers so far, so we definitely have the expertise to comment from first-hand user experience.

Philps MG5720 - our feedback so far

• Good build quality
• Compact and comfortable to use
• Average battery life
• Good set of extra accessories
• Not very noisy (definitely quieter than previous shavers we've tested)
• Easy to clean / wash

Previously, I spent some time to show you the features and specifications of the Philips QC5370/15 (which I still use), the cheaper Philips HC5450/83 which I didn't like that much (cheap price, cheap feeling) and the mid-range Philips MG3747 Multigroom.

In today's review I we will take a closer look at the Philips Multigroom series 5000 MG5720 which is very popular on different markets around the world.

Design and Looks
The Philips Multigroom MG5720 has a very pleasant design, decided in gray and black durable plastic. It is smaller than some trimmers that I have previously used and feels easier to hold. I think that some people with larger hands may find it a bit too small but that is up to personal preferences I guess.

 

Comfort of use
The Multigroom series 5000 are clippers that are quite comfortable to use. They are easy to grip, not very loud and definitely easy enough to maintain in good and clean condition. So far no issues in regards of comfort and usability were found.

 

Battery
The MG5720 is a real performer in regards to battery life. The battery would easily last 1 hour of active use. I cannot confirm what is the average time for reloading the battery (didn't pay attention) but I believe it is rather short compared to some other trimmers in the same price range.

Price
The MG5720 trimmer is not expensive at all. It could be easily found for around $50-60. Considering it has 11 accessories and could be used as hair clipper, trimmer, body and face trimmer and beard styling it is a fair price and could be considered cheap if this all-in-one trimmer last for at least couple of years.

Other thoughts
Philips Multigroom series 5000 MG5720 is a very capable all-in-one clipper and trimmer with great battery life, it is comfortable, easy to hold and use so I believe it would definitely be a good deal for most customers.
