We will definitely give it a chance and use the BY-M1 mic extensively in the next couple of weeks.

The Test
Our initial sound recording test of the BOYA BY-M1 was made with a relatively new Android smartphone (Samsung). We intend to make another test, recording the audio on a high-quality voice recorder like the Olympus LS-P4.

So, here is what we manage to get out of this lav mic in our initial review:

Product feedback
What we really liked about the BOYA BY-M1 is the plug-and-play capability of this device. We really didn't set up anything - just plugged it the smartphone through the 3.5 mm connector and it was recording with different apps, including the default smartphone camera app.

lav mic pouch
BOYA BY-M1 comes with this nice looking pouch where to store you mic when not in use

What we didn't like and mentioned in the video was the super-long cable. It really gets in the way most of the time and feels a bit heavy compared to other lav mics like the BOYA BY-LM10 which comes with much shorter cable.

That is it from our initial BY-M1 test. We will be sharing more details about this product's performance shortly.
