Seagate One Touch 500 GB SSD - first impressions

First impressions and comments after buying the external SSD storage Seagate One Touch 500 GB

Seagate One Touch 500 GB SSD review

In the search for some external storage these days we quickly reviewed many different options. But we stopped our attention and bought the Seagate One Touch 500 GB SSD for couple main reasons and here are some of them:

Size and dimensions
The Seagate One Touch external storage drives are super compact and lightweight. We were really surprised to see how small the 500 GB unit is, even smaller than the mouse taken on the photo below:

The One Touch 500 GB SSD is super-small

So it would be super convenient in case you need to carry around such massive storage that will literally fit in your pocket with ease.
  • Size: 75mm x 55.5mm x10mm
  • Weight: 0.065kg

Storage space
To be honest we first checked some budget 1 TB options, including portable hard drives. Compared to SSD the external HDD has few downsides - they are bigger in size, have moving parts and in some ways are slower and less reliable. So we dropped the external HDD option and decided to take budget SSD which meant we needed to reduce the memory size a bit (big SSDs are quite expensive).

Performance
Seagate One Touch 500 GB SSD covers transfer speeds of up to 400 MB/s and is compatible with USB 3.0. This means it addition that it should be more reliable thanks to skipping the moving parts (compared to traditional HDD) it is also very fast.
