Panasonic Lumix S5 is our favorite hybrid camera in 2022 - here is why
Since it was released back in September 2020 the Panasonic Lumix S5 became a true best seller in the hybrid
full frame world.
If we think about the basic needs of a photographer or a
videographer these days we wouldn’t find anything significantly different in
terms of equipment, even though technology has improved quite a lot.
The S5 is a versatile machine that is good in almost anything – recording amazing 4k (and even 6k) videos and making still shots that are as good.
What we love about the Panasonic Lumix S5 hybrid camera
So, here are just a few of the main reasons why we think the
Lumix S5 is the best hybrid full frame camera, even in 2022:

Very good
build quality – made of hard plastic with nice design and comfortable grip.

Amazing
video features – the ability to record 6k ProRes RAW video on a camera that
costs under $2000 is just unbelievable.

Probably
the best kit lens in the industry – the 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 kit is quite
versatile and good for professional video and stills.

5-stop
in-body stabilization – truly one of the best in class, even if the lens
are not equipped with any additional stabilization.

Adequate
battery life – the Panasonic DMW-BLK22 battery is not the best in class but
still performs above the average in the segment.
We can add a lot more to that list but we don’t want to
embarrass its direct competitors like the Sony Alpha iii even more.
Price
Currently the Lumix S5 is offered for around $1900. With the kit lens included it costs some $300 more.
Panasonic Lumix S5 is a videographers dream and even though
there are newer and much more expensive alternatives on the market, we still
think the Lumix S5 is the best hybrid full frame in 2022.
