Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop review - price, features and specs of the Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop

Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop reviewed
Dell Inspiron N5050 review - this cheap 15.6-inch laptop is best for those who want to have high quality brand laptop but without spending too much for it. I personally prefer the Latitude model line which is more sturdy and productive but of course comes at a higher price.

In the last couple of years I also used couple Dell Latitude laptops and I think it is definitely worth upgrading to the Latitude series even though you will have to pay more, it is definitely worth it.

As for the Dell N5050, I believe many consumers are still using their N5050 laptops even after more than 5 years since it was released. I remember this laptop was a big hit in United States and achieved great sales after it hit the computer markets.

Key features of the Dell N5050 laptop
  • Intel Celeron and Core processors
  • Bright 15.6 inch HD display
  • Embedded Intel graphics
  • Up to 6GB of RAM
  • HDMI
  • Webcam and mic
  • Good build quality and simple, elegant design
  • Reliable
The low price of the Dell Inspiron N5050 is possible because of the cheap Intel processor inserted in this computer. It is the 1.60GHz Intel Celeron B815 processor with 2MB Cache which is definitely not fast by any modern standards. There are already some smartphones on the market that have faster processors than this one. But in case you need a laptop mainly for browsing the web, watching some movies and stuff like that than Dell Inspiron N5050 will do the job just fine.

Dell Inspiron N5050 has a nice 15.6" WLED HD display with 1366 x 768 resolution. The LED technology guarantees low power consumption and the screen is perfect for delivering crisp images with vibrant colors.

The graphics is provided by the Intel HD Graphics 3000 graphics controller (with shared memory) which is good for watching HD clips but forget about playing some heavy-duty games.

Dell Inspiron N5050 usually comes with 3GB DRR3 (1333Mhz) RAM. The maximum you can upgrade is 6GB (2x slots).

The space for storage in Dell Inspiron N5050 is 320 GB. It is not the biggest hard drives out there but it is more than enough for most users.

Asus X55V laptop review

Dell N5050 laptop has great connectivity options which include fast 802.11b/g/n Dell Wireless adapter and Fast Ethernet LAN 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX.

Other interfaces included:
  • 1x HDMI Output
  • 3x USB 2.0
  • 1x VGA External display
  • 1x Ethernet RJ-45
  • 1x Microphone jack
  • 1x Headphone jack
  • 1x Kensington Lock Slot
  • 1x 3-in-1 memory card reader
  • 1x Integrated Webcam with mic
  • 1x AC-In

The optical drive here is DVD±RW Tray-Load drive.
The battery performs quite well. It is a 6-Cell Lithium Ion battery and it will hold charge for about three hours of moderate use.

Dell Inspiron 5040 laptop review

This laptop dimensions are pretty standard. Dell Inspiron N5050 measures 376.0 x 260.0 x 31.52/34.53 (WxDxH mm)in size and weighs about 2.37kg.

Price

I think the price for this entry level laptop is around $400 (£300 in UK). Dell Inspiron N5050 is also offered in other more powerful configurations (with Core i5-2450M processor, more RAM...) but of course the price is much higher than this.

Inspiron in 2019
As you probably know the Inspiron N5050 is a pretty old model in Dell's line up. But there are successors that should stand up to the expectations for reliable laptop within Dell's model range. In 2019 we had new models in the Inspiron, Latitude and XPS series.

Here is a quick preview of one of the latest Inspiron models that is on the market these days (the Inspiron 15-5584):

I would really appreciate it if N5050 owners share their opinion after years of using their Dell laptops.

Discussing problems and issues of the battery, keyboard, trackpad, cooling and display are just few of the topics I would like touch in the discussion in this post.

Thanks for reading and check the rest of our laptop reviews.

I have had traumatic brain injury. I didn't fix computers. I bought a used Dell Inspiron 15 n5050 rigged to work. I can now take them apart and fix anyone about them. With a i3, 8gb or ram and a 500gb ssd hard drive. I keep it up to date. Got Dell assistant, Windows upgrade and TOTALAV protection. It is the fastest yet. Upon using the i3. I am satisfied I have had slower processors. The ssd hard drive makes it faster to. I got parts and plan to use it long as I can. So between that Dell and touch screen cell phones I have it made. I can't walk and I used to be a good mechanic. Fixing the dells is my hobby I enjoy it
