Top 2 competitors for the Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini toaster

Tefal Express 365030 toaster and  Tefal Subito 3 Red Wine TT260D12 toaster are the biggest competitors for the Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini toaster

Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini toaster is one of our latest kitchen appliances so I decided to research on few other options that could have been alternatives to our super nice looking toaster.
So here is the short list:

1. Tefal Express 365030 - nice looking toaster packed with smart functions like Defrost, Reheat and Stop

2. Tefal Subito 3 Red Wine TT260D12 - 850W, 2 slots, 7 degrees setting, Hi-Lift function, Stop button, defrosting and toasting options

Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini toaster test and review

What I like most about these two is that they have plenty of features (for a toaster) and they look a bit different but still maintain the typical high quality that Tefal has been known for so long.

How to use the Samsung MS23F301TAS 23 liter ceramic microwave oven

Product review and short tutorial how to use the Samsung MS23F301TAS 23 liter ceramic microwave

Samsung MS23F301TAS
Samsung MS23F301TAS ceramic microwave oven

Hello dear readers and welcome back to our product review blog. Today I will share my impressions with one of our latest kitchen appliances that we bought prior to moving in our new apartment - the 23 liter ceramic microwave oven Samsung MS23F301TAS. My main drivers when choosing this oven were:

  • Very good looking - chrome/inox combined with dark glass and plastics, stylish and yet functional

  • Got it cheap - Under $100

  • The brand - Samsung are doing very well with their kitchen appliances recently

  • Compact - you can fit 3 cups or 2 bowls or 2 small plates inside yet the oven is not too big overall and fits well in our small kitchen

We've been using this microwave oven for 2 months and our impressions so far are good. If there's a drawback to this oven, it's the initially confusing menu which can get you wondering on how to use it at first. However, after some time you get used to it. Currently we have no issues using all of the oven's functionalities.

You can select between 6 different power levels, as well as option to unfreeze and to grill. You can either manually swipe button to the correct time you need for your food to warm, or press the quick add button which will give you + 30 sec. So far we've mainly used this microwave oven to warm food and prepare hot water for drinks. However it can also be used to make a quick sandwich using the grill function or to melt cheese, butter or chocolate if you need. In some of the reviews we've viewed before purchasing the oven, some people also claim to use it for cooking, but I have not yet tried to make a whole meal in it.

Samsung MS23F301TAS ceramic inside

The inside coating of this microwave oven is ceramic, which is said to be anti-bacterial, or at least Samsung's official specifications of this oven claim so. Anti-bacterial or not, the important part is that it's fairly easy to clean and you will rarely need to treat it with anything else but a clean towel to just wipe off any food residue.

Top 3 things to like about the Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini toaster

One of the things I really like in this oven is that you don't open the door with a button, instead you have a sleek metal handle which you pull gently to open the door. The reason I like it so much is that on older microwave ovens I've used it takes only a couple of weeks of regular use for the button to start jamming, after which you will have trouble opening the microwave. Fortunately, Samsung have prevented this by opting to put a handle instead.

We'll do some more cooking with the Samsung MS23F301TAS microwave oven and share more impressions about its performance and features.

Ultimate test: Razer Adaro headphones - two year review

Design and consumer opinion about the Razer Adaro headphones after couple of years of active use

Razer Adaro headphones
Razer Adaro headphones

I’ve had the Razer Adaro for a couple of years now but I will not switch to newer headphones until the good old Adaro falls apart. You want to know why? Read the review below ….

The Razer Adaro we will review today is an older model of the notorious brand among gamers. They came to the market in 2014 and are still widely used among computer geeks along with the newer, flashier Razer headsets. Interestingly enough, I am not a gamer and have never been interested in the brand purely because of its popularity among this subculture. However, the Adaro impressed me with their sleek and stylish design, simple lines and unbelievably comfortable ear cushions.

Design

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="218"]Razer Adaro headphones Razer Adaro headphones[/caption]

At first look, this Adaro set does not look like the flashy designs Razer offers nowadays, which for me personally is a good thing. I am not one to boast with brand names, functionality is more important to me than popularity of the brand. And the Adaro does not fail to deliver. The design is simple, yet elegant. The Razer logo is embedded on the ear cushions and on the top of the headset bandana, the green color of the cable makes for a good contrast to the overall black headphones.

The adjustable bandana is a neat feature that allows you to loosen or tighten the headset to fit to your preference and size. The size of the ear cushions is perfect for my ears and this is the very first headset among many that I’ve tried which actually sits comfortable and does not cause any pain if worn for a prolonged time. I’ve worn them for more than 5 consecutive hours and I have had no problems whatsoever. I’ve even worn them to the gym a few times, however I will not recommend that to anyone as the leather of the ear cushions can get easily damaged.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="300"]Razer Adaro Razer Adaro[/caption]

Functionality

The sound these headphones deliver is nothing short of amazing. Without using any type of equalizer on my laptop or Android phone, I’ve managed to hear never heard before frequencies on songs I’ve been listening to for years. The lows and basses are deep, the mids range is perfectly balanced and the higher frequencies are clear and not distorted like some other headphones I’ve had the ‘pleasure’ of using.

Sony MDR-XD150 closed stereo headphones

With the help of a little bit of equalizer tuning (I used it mostly on my phone) I achieved a perfect balance of all sound frequencies for the type of music I listen to on a daily basis. However, it has to be mentioned that the Razer Adaro performs beautifully with every music genre I’ve tried - rock is perfectly balanced, hip-hop’s bass is prominent, pop songs sound great as well, no high or medium frequencies are omitted.

Razer Adaro reviewRazer Adaro sound

My overall impression with this headset is so good that I am not thinking of upgrading them to a newer set in the near future or at least until the old Adaros fall apart. Maybe even then I will upgrade with another Razer set as my experience with the brand has been nothing short of amazing.

The best cheap combo hand blender on the market today - Star-Light HBSG 4 750W

Hand blender Star-Light HBSG 4 750W impresses with its versatility thanks to variety of add-ons and good overall build quality

Star-Light HBSG 4 750W consumer test and review
Hand blender Star-Light HBSG 4 750W

Just a few days ago we added the Star-Light HBSG 4 750W in 1 blender to our brand new kitchen and as I’ve already used it several times, I’d like to share my experience and why I think this budget Starlight blender is one of the best options you can buy.

Star-Light HBSG 4 750W 6 speed controller Star-Light HBSG 4 750W all in one hand blender parts

First off, the price of this blender is impressive for the options it delivers. You get a hand blender, a mixer with 2 different types of attachments, a mincer and a tall measuring bowl, very convenient if you’re making smoothies. I got it for ~ 40 USD on sale, however the usual price varies around USD 50 - 60, which is still a great bargain for the whole set!

Star-Light HBSG 4 750W 4 in 1 hand blender

What I liked about this blender at the moment I took it out of the box is the sleek inox design - looks very cool and goes perfectly with all other kitchen appliances we have, which are all inox-colored. The blender part (where the main rotor is) fits well and sturdy in your hand and does not feel slippery at all. The buttons are easy to press even it your hands are dirty. All parts are easy to clean.

You can choose between 6 levels of speed of the rotor and you also get turbo-mode, for when you want to mix especially fast for a short period of time. The 4 in 1 Starlight gives you the following options:

  • blender with a tall measuring bowl - you can make smoothies, shakes or blend soups or creamy liquid food.

  • mixer - you get 2 different attachments for the mixer and you can use it to beat eggs, cream or other ingredients for different cakes, sweets etc or bakery in general. Sadly the package does not come with a mixer bowl.

  • mincer / chopper - you can use this option to mince food, for example I’ve used it to mince old bread into breadcrumbs, nuts into nut butters, as well as softer food such as bananas into a banana paste etc. I have not tried it to mince meat and I doubt it will be very successful.

My overall impressions with the Star-Light blender are very good and it definitely will fit well into my kitchen. It’s a perfect tool for everyday use or when you want to make something special at home. The mincer part is what makes me especially happy as it can be used to make the basic layers of raw vegan cakes and pastries, which is something I’ve used to make before with my old mincer and will be happy to do again.

I would absolutely recommend this Star-Light blender to anyone looking to have a little fun in the kitchen, it’s perfect for a newbie cook or even for the experienced guys and gals out there who’re looking for a budget tool with many options as the Starlight blender offers. You will not be disappointed!

Top 3 things to like about the Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini toaster

Our  Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini toaster is finally here, so here are the 3 things we liked most about it

It's been two days since we got the  Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini toaster and it is only a few times that we've tried it so here is a short list with the top 3 first impressions with this product:
  1. It looks amazing - metal finish and Inox
  2. It can't toast large slices of bread
  3. It is super compact so soon it will find it's spot in our kitchen
I have to say that the first couple slices of bread came out very well, nicely toasted all over. The bad thing here to mention is that you can't really toast large (usually the long rounded ones) but that is expected with most non-professional toasters.

So, overall I have to admit that we are happy with our purchase. I still haven't figured out how the 6 levels work and what are they suited for but soon I will share more info about it as well.

Things I like and I hate about our Tefal Ultaracompact SM1552 sandwich maker

For now, we will continue using the  Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini toaster and hopefully it will work as expected. I will be happy to get some feedback from other consumers using this toaster, so please don't forget to share and comment.

In the next couple of weeks I will toast some more bread slices and I will test the different settings and give you more tips for how to better use the Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini toaster.

Sony Bravia KDL-40WD650 in-depth user review

2 months since we bought our 40 inch Full HD LED TV Sony Bravia-40WD650 - consumer thoughts and opinion

Sony Bravia KDL-40WD650 TV It has been almost 2 months since we bought our 40 inch Full HD LED TV Sony Bravia-40WD650 and we decided to share with you a more thorough review of this TV.

Top 3 drivers that made us buy the KDL-40WD650
  1. The brand - I was confident we will get a Sony LED TV for our living room, since they make the best panels in the industry.
  2. It's a Smart TV - this a non-Android TV but that is not a bad thing. So far on my previous Smart TV I've only used the YouTube application and that is as far as most Smart TV capabilities and usability go these days.
  3. Price - KDL-40WD650 is a good TV offered at a reasonable price. We got ours for around $500.
Design
Our first impressions on the Sony Bravia can be found in my initial review of the 40WD650. This was definitely the correct choice of TV for our needs and fits perfectly in our living room. The design is slim and sleek, the stand is very sturdy, but easy to mount with a few screws included in the box. It’s not as wide as the TV so you can fit it on a smaller surface if needed. The frame is very thin around the edges so it doesn’t take much of the actual screen space. What we especially liked is the simplicity of the TV’s design, typical for Sony’s models. It can also be wall-mounted, but we have not used that option.

Picture quality
Overall we are very happy with the quality of this TV - the picture is clean and refined. The noise reduction approach does not sacrifice the sharpness of the image so you get great level of detail. Black uniformity is also good, of course, not as much as a higher class Sony or an OLED TV, but the blacks are deep and dark and there’s no visible ‘bleeding’. Whites are very well presented also.

Picture remains  crisp and the action is smooth even when watching a fast-moving sequence e.g. a sports show. The Motionflow XR technology Sony utilized here adds extra between the original ones by comparing visual factors between successive frames and fits an additional frame in-between to keep the experience smooth and flowing.

Viewing angles
Viewing angels on the 40WD650 are very good. Watching from different angels is not a problem at all, so you don't need to worry if the TV is perfectly centered in your room.

Sound Quality
What the TV makes up for in picture quality, it loses in sound quality, unfortunately. Of course, if you’re not very picky about your sound, the Sony 40WD650 will be satisfactory. However, we are not very happy with the flat sound the TV produces with almost no low tones, mediocre middles and highs. After initial test, we have almost not used the original TV sound, we’ve purchased a separate sound system for that purpose.

Features
This TV, of course, has built-in Wi-Fi functionality so you can browse the web or watch videos / streaming services, which is pretty standard and a must-have requirement nowadays. Youtube and Netflix apps are available, too, and we’ve used Youtube mostly so far.

Sadly the Sony 40WD650 does not come with Android OS, which was something we were hoping on when looking for a new TV. In my personal experience, the navigation of the TV tends to be a bit sluggish, so more could be expected, but let’s not forget that in this price range, this Sony is easily the best option out there.

Main TV Specifications:
  • Screen size: 40 inch
  • HD specification: Full HD
  • TV resolution: 1920x1080
  • Optimized frequency: 200 Hz
  • Screen shape: Flat

Nokia 6 - new potential best seller

Could Nokia 6 really stand up against the biggest in the mid-range smartphone segment!?

Nokia 6 smartphone review
Nokia 6 presented at Test and Review blog

The iconic Nokia brand has returned to the market with the Nokia 5 and 6 smartphones being released July 2017 in the US. We are quite excited to see the comeback of the brand and happy to have the opportunity to review the 5 and 6 editions.

After out Nokia 5 review, we’d like to introduce the Nokia 6 smartphone - an affordable option, currently priced at $229 and sold by Amazon for $179. It’s produced by HMD Global too, like Nokia 5 and we hope it will stand up to the high expectations we have for the brand.

Basic features

The phone comes with a corpus made of a single aluminum block which gives it a high-quality, premium feel above the actual price range it fits in. The phone is sold in a Matte Black, Silver, Tempered Blue and Copper color variations. For an additional price, there's a Piano Black version called the Arte Black Limited Edition, which also has extra storage.

The corpus of the phone is very sturdy and sleek, fits well in the hand despite its larger size. The phone has flat sides so if you’re used to handling phones with rounded edges, you will feel there’s some difference in handling it for a longer period of time.

The power and volume keys are conveniently on the right side of the phone, the 3.5 mm audio jack is on the top side and the microUSB port along with the speaker are on the bottom of the phone. As a nice bonus, there’s a fingerprint scanner on the front, which is still not that common in this price range.

The display is clear, bright with vivid colors, and the 5.5’’ size makes it very suitable for videos, games or photo editing, something that would please Instagram lovers around the world.

The Nokia 6 comes with Android 7 Nougat and no useless pre-loaded “bloatware” to irritate the Android fans. They’ve chosen to stay with the standard Android layout, which is a refreshingly good solution we hope more brands could make. The performance is smooth for the basic tasks, which is more than expected for this price range.

Technical specifications:

  • Dimensions - 154 x 75.8 x 7.9 mm

  • 5.5-inch Full HD display

  • Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 chipset

  • Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU

  • 3GB of RAM

  • 32GB of internal storage

  • 16MP rear camera and 8MP front camera

  • Fingerprint scanner

  • 3000mAh battery

  • Duam-SIM option

  • Android 7.1.1 (Nougat)

Overall verdict

The premium build, affordable price and good-quality display are definite advantages of this smartphone and makes it a serious competition for other brands in the same price range. We are impressed with the quality of the aluminium corpus - definitely the best feature of this phone. The performance is a bit questionable as we would not be sure if the phone will perform so well under heavier load, however the basic functions are well executed, which is all we could expect from a smartphone in the Nokia 6 price range.

Nokia 6 video review by PhoneArena

Is Nokia 6 worth buying?
Well... yes, especially if you are sick of the mainstream brands that you see all day long then Nokia 6 would bring some fresh air in the segment. There is nothing significantly special about this phone that we haven't seen on the market so far but there is something much bigger than that - the return of a brand that change the telecom industry some 20 years ago.

Getting our new toaster - Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini

Today we are getting brand new toaster - it is the Tefal TT330D (also seen as Tefal TT330D30) Ultra Mini

Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini toaster

Since we moved to a new flat couple of months ago, there was plenty of appliances that we needed to buy for the brand new kitchen we had. Suddenly I realized it is a lot of stuff we need to buy but one by one we are almost there.

Today I am awaiting for an order I made couple of days ago which should include the super-compact toaster Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini. I am very happy that I was able to find a toaster that is not going to take as much space since our kitchen is not too big and every inch of free space matters.

Before I get my hands on this brand new toaster, here are the top 5 reasons that made me choose the Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini:
  1. Compact size - it measures just 25 x 15 x 14
  2. Good looks - it has really nice classic design, shiny metal looks with a touch of a retro feeling
  3. Price - costed me less $50
  4. Premium brand - Tefal make great kitchen appliances
  5. Powerful enough - 700W
I can't wait for my order to be delivered today. Once I get my hands on the Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini toaster I will share more consumer impressions with you. Hopefully we'll have some well toasted slices of bread.

5 things that make Tefal Filtra One FF175D71 the best cheap deep fryer on the market today

Why is the Tefal Filtra One FF175D71 the best cheap deep fryer on the market !? Short list of the things we liked about this affordable and yet quite capable deep fryer

TEFAL ONE FILTRA review
Tefal Filtra One FF175D71
Today our Test and Review crew is in the kitchen where we will make some mess with one of the cheap deep fryers offered by Tefal - Filtra One FF175D71. Before I proceed with the actual review, here is the list with the top 5 things you will like about the One Filtra:
  1. It looks great - black plastics combined with inox steel body make look professional even though it is just a consumer fryer
  2. It cooks nice - it is a deep fryer and it does the job very well
  3. Oil filtering - have your oil always clear thanks to the One Filtra system
  4. It is cheap - it costs less than $80 (around 70 Euros on the European market)
  5. Built-in timer

And it is made by Tefal - it looks and feels like a quality made product.

The One Filtra SS model, which claims to have an intelligent system for oil filtration aiming to keep your cooking oil fresh for longer.

General information:
As we can see, this is a sleek inox model which will not occupy a lot of space on your kitchen counters. With its 2.1 L volume you can fit just enough deep-fried food for several portions. It is a good solution for a family of four or if you expect guests, as well as for everyday use.

This deep fryer is easy to store due to its compact size and foldable handle - it’s made to fit anywhere. Tefal also claim it’s very easy to clean with a sponge and the filter and frying basket are suitable to be cleaned in a dishwasher. There’s a viewing window on top so you can track the progress of your food preparation, and, of course, you can regulate the cooking temperature between 150 and 190C. Despite the temperature of the cooking oil, the walls of the fryer are well-isolated so it can be touched even when it’s on and cooking.

The best feature (or so Tefal claims) about this deep fryer is the oil filtration system it employs. The oil is filtered through a special metal net so there’s no hard parts or sediments in the cooking oil, which keeps it fresh for longer. Still, it is not advisable to mix different kinds of oil in the fryer so we suggest to entirely empty the fryer and clean it well before you add a new portion of oil.

TEFAL ONE FILTRA fryer

The oil filter uses activated carbon and you can change it once every 35 - 50 fries, depending on the food you cook. You can just check the filter indicator - it will show you when your filter needs to be changed, a very convenient feature. However, if you use the fryer to cook fish, we would highly advise to use a separate filter and change it on other types of food. That is, of course, if you don’t like your fries with a fishy edge!

Tips and tricks:

Make sure that your food is entirely dry before you put it in the fryer as you want to avoid diluting / overflowing the cooking oil.

Avoid using peanut oil in fryers - the oil will almost definitely start smoking and is not a healthy option anyway.

Few other tips when using the TEFAL ONE FILTRA:
  • Do not put frozen food directly in the frying basket.
  • Do not put the lid down directly after cooking as it could cause water condensate to form.
  • Do not use or store the fryer outside due to the same reasons.
You can store oil in the fryer until it needs to be changed (the indicator will show you that).
Simply make sure you put the lid down once the oil’s cooled off.
Keep in mind that your oil will be heated and ready for use in 10 to 18 mins.

There is also another quality product from Tefal that grabbed our attention - the Tefal TT330D Ultra Mini which I ordered few days ago and am expecting to be delivered today.

The brand new Nokia 5 - great value for money smartphone

Nokia 5
is out on the market and it seems like a big deal for the tech world. Together with Nokia 3 and 6 the 5 is Nokia's first serious attempt to invade the Android smartphone markets. With very solid build quality and affordable price Nokia 5 is truly balanced smartphone with nice set of features, most of which we will cover in our consumer review today. Produced by the Finnish Company HMD Global this phone promises to earn back some of the previous glory of what used to be technology giant.

Build Quality and Design

The nicely curved unibody design of the 5 is nothing different from what we see in this price range these days. What impresses most is the feel of a quality made product. The 5.2-inch display fits nicely in the aluminium unibody and thankfully the phone itself is not too thin so it fits perfectly in the hand (even if no case is added). And while speaking for the display we should mention it is an HD Corning Gorilla Glass display with resolution of 1280x720 pixels.

Nokia 5 is offered in four different colors - Blue, Black, Silver and Gold. I expect the black version to be most popular around man buyers while the golden version would be more appealing for the girls (well, that's my personal guess).

Inexpensive but functional

Even though the Nokia 5 does not cost a lot (under $250) it comes with a nice set of features that we usually see in much more expensive devices. One of these is the built-in fingerprint sensor which does a great job for quick unlocking and authorizing. Here are the most important technical details that you should now about the new Nokia 5:

  • Octa-core Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 430 processor

  • 2GB of RAM

  • 16GB internal storage - expandable to 128GB via microSD

  • Fully-laminated and polarized 5.2 inch IPS LCD HD display with 2.5D sculpted Corning® Gorilla® Glass

  • 13 MP autofocus rear camera (f/2.0 sensor) and 8 MP front-facing camera (selfie-camera as they call it these days) with dual-tone LED flash

  • 3000 mАh battery

  • NFC

  • Bluetooth 4.1

  • GPS

  • Dual SIM option

  • Android Nougat OS

Competition
With the 5 Nokia is entering quite a busy segment where a variety of competitors fight for customers willing to spend up to $300 for a capable smartphone. I think the biggest competition would come from well known 'fighters' like the extremely successful Samsung Galaxy J5 which already has its 2017 version released recently.
Huawei and Xiaomi also have couple of strong competitors in this segment in the face of Xiaomi Redmi 4A and the Huawei P10 lite.

Verdict
Many fans were waiting for years until Nokia released something that could really give big manufacturers reasons to worry for the future of their domination on the smartphone market and the Finnish manufacturer finally delivered. If I have to be 100% honest though I don't thing Samsung or LG would be worried after those first attempts from Nokia and it is quite expected after so many years of struggle.

Nokia 5 is a good phone that many of you would like but only if expectations are not set too high.
